William M. Carr, 73, of 542 Jillson Ave., a roofer for O.P. French & Sons for 20 years before retiring in 1977, died yesterday at Fogarty Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sylvia S. (Dubois) Carr.

Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Frank and Ruth (Jenckes) Carr.

Mr. Carr was an Army veteran of World War II.

He leaves a stepson, Robert Riendeau of Woonsocket; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Sessieur of Bellingham and Mrs. Nancy Bressan of Blackstone; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lucille Roy and Mrs. Constance Brooks; a brother, Winfield R. Carr, all of Woonsocket; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Cook of Lincoln, Mrs. Louise Allen of North Smithfield, Mrs. Delphine Wood of North Kingstown and Mrs. Rachel Martinelli of Providence; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield.
