Huron-Nov. 13-Special-The funeral of George Burkhardt, 47, formerly Huron councilman who died at his home Sunday following a lingering illness, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence and at 2 o'clock from the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. S.J.R. Ensign, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in McMillen Cemetery.
Mr. Burkhardt was born in Huron and was a life-long resident of the city. He was employed the greater part of his life at the Cleveland Stevedore Co. ore docks and served one term on the Huron Council, resigning that office two years ago because of his health. He was stricken with stomach trouble in September but was confined to his home only four days before death.
Survivors are his mother, Catharine Burkhardt; one brother Franklin Burkhardt at home; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Koss, of Toledo and Mrs. Belle Eberwine, Sandusky; one nephew, Leo Koss [sic] of Toledo and one niece, Miss Georgia Franklin Eberwine, Sandusky. His father, Reuben Burkhardt and two sisters Catherine [sic] and Anna [sic] preceded him in death.
He was a member of Marks Lodge, F. and A. M. No. 351, Huron. Members of the Masonic Lodge will be in charge of the funeral.
