Biography:

Marjedene "MiMi" Buhler-Oxendine, 86, Granby, died Sunday, November 14, 2010, with her family by her side.

She was born March 30, 1924, in Granby, MO, to Wilburn and Laura (Judd) Shewmake.

Marjedene was a lifelong Granby, MO resident, and graduated from Granby High School in 1941, as 1st Honor Student.

After graduation she moved to San Francisco, CA, returning to Missouri, with her family, and attended Joplin Jr. College, receiving an Assoc. of Arts and Drama degree. From there she continued at SMSU, graduating with a B.S. in Art Ed., and received an M.S. in Art Ed from PSU. She received a Masters in Drama and Psychology from SMS; an Assoc. of Arts degree in Spanish, at Crowder College; and worked toward an EDS in Psychology.

She taught Art, Speech and Drama in California, Kansas and Missouri.

She became a member of the Order of Eastern Star, at age 18, was a member of the Veteran's Gold Star Wives organization and a member of Granby Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by an infant twin son and daughter, Ronnie and Bonnie Spittler, in 1948; four brothers, Floyd, Bert, Fred and Jim Shewmake; and three sisters, Ora Strait, Cora Burnett and Opal Shewmake.

She is survived by three children, Elizabeth I. "Betsy" McDonough, St. Augustine Beach, FL; Gregory B. Spittler, Seneca, MO; and Teresa "Terre" K. Winter, Ozark, MO; five grandchildren, Laurie Lee; Bryan Ward, Matthew K. Ward, James Gregory Hansen, and Brekken Spittler; and four great-grandchildren, Weston Ward, Cordell Ward, Faeryn Lee and Simany Lee

GRANBY, MO — Marjedene "MiMi" Buhler-Oxendine, 86, Granby, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, with her family by her side.

She was born March 30, 1924, in Granby, Mo., to Wilburn and Laura (Judd) Shewmake.

Marjedene was a lifelong Granby resident and graduated from Granby High School in 1941, as 1st Honor Student.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Granby First Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred Franks officiating.

Burial will follow in Granby Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Ward, Matt Ward, James Gregory Hansen, Steve Burnett, Andy Lee and Rick Shewmake. Weston Ward and Cordell Ward will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Friends may call at Clark Funeral Home, Granby, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
