Mary Jo Andrews passed away on October 15th, 2010 after a
courageous battle against cancer. She was born on October 8th, 1928 in East
Liverpool, Ohio to Dr. John and Thelma Fraser. She attended Ohio Wesleyan
University, graduating with a degree in Home Economics in 1950. She married Dr.
Richard P. Andrews in 1953. She worked as a health educator in Boston and St.
Louis before moving to Albany, N.Y. where they started their family. They moved
to Portland, Oregon and lived there for 35 years before she moved to Kirkland,

enjoyed camping trips together and especially loved spending time at Mt.Hood,
cross-country skiing and hiking. Upon moving to Kirkland, her greatest joys were
spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately known
as G-Jo to family and friends. She loved family meals, holidays and summers at
Lake Chelan. She was her grandkids #1 fan and could always be counted on to
support their every endeavor. No birthday, anniversary or holiday went without a
thoughtful card from G-Jo. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Kirkland
Performance Center and Studio East, active in her swim group, and a longtime
member of the Evergreen Cancer Support group- Bosom Buddies. Mary Jo was known
for her big heart, selfless ways, her kind and generous spirit, and her tireless
devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by all of us who loved her. She is
