According to his obituary, George was born in Schrodesburg [sic: Schrozberg], Wurtemburg, Germany.
He came to the United States in 1848 and spent his first years years in Pittsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; afterwards he came to Punxsutawney and a year later moved to his farm which was located near the village of Cortez in McCalmont Township, Jefferson County.
He was married in Pittsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on 15 April 1853 to Barbara Hoffman.
They were the parents four sons & five daughters.
His surviving children were:
George Noerr;
John Noerr;
William Noerr;
Mrs. H.G.[Rosa] Wingert;
Mrs. J. K. North;
Mrs. Henry Smith;
and Mrs. F.[Frank]G. St.Clair.
Two children who died in 1880:
[Carl]Frederick and Mary [L.] Noerr
He was a major landowner in McCalmont Township.
Aged 71 Years 4 Months & 6 Days.
