Jesse Runyan, commonly known as Uncle Jesse, died at his home January 24, 1889, after a short illness of 4 days. Mr. Runyan was an old and respected citizen. He was born in Ohio in 1810, moved to Vermillion County in 1841, and was 79 years old at the time of his death. He was universally respected by all who knew him. Ten children, 46 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren survive him.
