Betty Lou Puhl, 80, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, November 9 at Allen Hospital of kidney failure.

She was born September 22, 1930 in Fonda, daughter of Marvin and Effie Abbott Bandy. She married James F. Puhl in 1960 in Illinois.

Mrs. Puhl graduated from Independence High School in 1948, and was employed with the Mental Health Institute, Independence for several years.

Survived by her husband; one daughter, Lou Anne (Mike) Puhl-Keiltz of Waterloo; two sons, Donald (Tami) Davis of Cedar Rapids, and James R. (Bilie Jo) Puhl of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Robert Grinage of Barron, Wisconsin, Jennifer Cooley of St. Louis, Missouri, and Krista Lou Kielty of Waterloo; one great-grandson, Carter Matthew Lindquist; and one brother, Marvin (Alma) Bandy of Independence.

Services 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, and for an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
