Born Feb. 24, 1906, in Waterfall, he was a son of the late Meade and Pearl (Cutchall) Black. He was married to the former Della Shaw on May 19, 1932.
Surviving is his wife, at their home; a son, Curtis Black of Millerstown; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Willard Black of Orbisonia, and two sisters, Vera Strait of Hustontown and Dorothy Clevenger, McConnellsburg.
Preceding him in death were a son, Donald, two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Black was of the Protestant faith.
Early in his life, he was engaged in farming, was employed as a steelworker in Johnstown and a heavy equipment operator. Later, he owned and operated Black's Freeze in Three Springs for 10 years, until his retirement in 1972.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at the M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, with the Rev. Kern Wickware officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, New Grenada.
Friends may call at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
