He was born June 20, 1907, at Deming, N. M., a son of Payton L. and Lula Mae Lewis Smyer.
He was owner of Orchardside Court Motel at Fairfield. He was a member of Raphine Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Smyer married Lottie Ruth Dotson in January 1931.
Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Virgil Smyer of Brownsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara S. Swisher of Altavista and Carole S. Ferguson of Raphine; a sister, Mrs. Mae S. Case of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A service was conducted Sunday at News Providence Presbyterian Church cemetery by Dr. John H. H. Lewis.
