Clarence H. Capelle, 95, of Spring Valley, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 10, 2010, at the Ostrander Care Center.
Clarence was born June 28, 1915, in Frankford Township, Mower County, the son of Henry and Anna (Picka) Capelle. The family lived in Spring Valley, where he attended public school. He married Audrey Ann Behrens, and the couple were later divorced. He worked with his father at the Capelle John Deere dealership in Spring Valley for a number of years and then farmed in Frankford Township until 1962. He moved back to Spring Valley, where he worked for the Spring Valley Hospital and was a caregiver to his parents until their deaths.
He became a resident of the Ostrander Care Center in December 2003.
Clarence was a member of the Oddfellows, the Farmer's Union and the Assemblies of God Church in Spring Valley. He enjoyed farming, fishing and sports.
He is survived by three children, James and Donnamae Capelle of Waterloo, Iowa, Carole and Kenneth Hodson of Ostrander, and Michael and Barbara Capelle of Rochester; grandchildren, including Jeffrey and Robert Capelle; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at the Valley Christian Center in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Steve Kuno officiating. Burial will be in the Frankford Cemetery in rural Spring Valley.
Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
