Mr. F. R. (Francis Robert) James of Blackpool passed away peacefully on April 1, 1978.
Mr. James was born in Wallesay, England in 1895. He immigrated to Canada in 1912 in the Empress of Ireland moving directly to Vancouver, BC.
Mr. James joined the armed forces in Vancouver in 1914 and served with the Canadian Engineers until he was wounded in action in October 11, 1918.
Mr. James was then an evangelist and travelled to many parts in Canada serving the Churches of Christ. He was also an electrician and repairman and opened a cycle shop in Vancouver in the 1920's.
Mr. James was a present member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 259 and a life member of the War Amputations of Canada in Hamilton, Ontario.
He leaves in remembrance of him, his wife, Olive Annabell (McLarty) James of Blackpool, his daughter Betty L. Davidson of Blackpool, Mary of Calgary (Mrs. E. Younggren). Sisters - Mrs Vera Matthews of Kelowna, Mrs. Gladous Daft of New Westminster, Eileen Evanaulf of Edmonton, Mrs. Emma Randall of Edmonton. three grandchildren Alan Davidson, at home, David of Vavenby and Mary-Anne Behan of Blackpool, and three great grandchildren, Steven and Jolene of Vavenby and Robert Jr. of Blackpool.
