Fred D. Culver was one of the 60 cowboys in Captain Seth Bullock's Cowboy Brigade who took their horses to Washington DC in March of 1905 to ride in the inaugural parade to honor President Teddy Roosevelt.

According to Richard C. Osterhout it is believed that this Fred Culver was married to Jeanette McDougal Weatherwax, the adopted daughter of Captain Thomas J. Weatherwax who resided in Centennial Prairie, near Whitewood and Deadwood, South Dakota. circa 1878 to 1905. Captain Weatherwax served in the 1st Nebraska Cavalry during the Civil War and the Indian War of 1864. Jennie and Fred had a son Rollin Culver who was born September 4, 1894. He died November 11, 1934 at Butte, MT. His death certificate says Rolland Flannigan (his step-father was Noble B. Flannigan).

Fred D. Culver: Fred was born on January 24,1867, son of Cyrus H. and Sarah Alsina (Petit) Culver. His father was a Captain in Co. I, 142 Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. His father enlisted at Oil City, Pennsylvania, where he had been an oil operator. By 1889, his father was living in Eddy County, North Dakota; first at Tiffany and afterwards at New Rockford. His father was born at Sherman, Chautauqua County, New York and married in 1865 at Chickashaw County, Iowa. Places where his father lived after his Civil War service were Mendon, Michigan; Geneseo, Illinois; New Hampton, Iowa; Mendon, Michigan (again); Tiffany, North Dakota; and New Rockford, Michigan. Fred's paternal grandfather was Herman Culver.
