Her parents were John R. Hunnicutt and his second wife, Rachel E. Chambers Hunnicutt. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 half brothers, John Thomas and William Charles Hunnicutt; a half sister, Annie Mae Hunnicutt Malone and one brother, David Junius Hunnicutt; and stepson, Lonnie Edward Flake, Jr.

The Bulloch County native was a member of the Lower Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie E. Flake, Statesboro; a daughter, Mrs. Curtis P. Melton Sr., Valdosta; a son, John F. FLake, Statesboro; a step-daughter, Dorothy Flake Melton; a brother, A.S. Hunnicutt, Statesboro; a half sister, Florie Cason Bush (T.N.) Alabama; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mrs. Flake will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Hodges-Turner Funeral Home with Elder Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
