Bob was born June 10, 1918, in Lansing, Michigan, to Robert Bowden and Elizabeth (Fleming) Bowden. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, serving in World War II. Following his military service, Pastor Bob attended seminary and was ordained to the ministry in March 1949. In June of that same year, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Foote, a classmate graduate of Moody Bible Institute. Altogether, Bob and Charlotte served the Lord in pastoring nine churches in Michigan, Illinois, and Nevada.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Bowden, of Bettendorf; daughters, Martha Fruehling, and her husband, Steve, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Susan Bellew, and her husband, Rick, of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Jeramy Messier, Marcie Gorsch and Theresa Fruehling; two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; two sisters; and two brothers. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank Bowden and David Bowden a grandson, Shawn Fruehling, and a step-grandson, Kraig Ashcraft.
