Ethel Lucile Minchew Taylor, age 86, of Alma passed away quietly and serenely on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Bacon County Hospital after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Emma Jane Griner Minchew and Delessie N. Minchew. She was preceded in death by her husband, D.W. Taylor, a daughter, Kathy Taylor and son-in-law, Junior Rewis, brothers and sisters, Archie, Clarence, Ottis, Edwin, Mark and Clyde Minchew, Ozelle Minchew Sports, Thelma Minchew Spivey and Idell Boatright.

She was a 1941 graduate of Wacona School, homemaker, devoted mother and wife and member of Mt. Pleasant Church. She was mother of three children and her family was her life. Mrs. Taylor delighted in going to church and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Jane Rewis and Pam Whitley and husband Charles of Alma, five grandchildren, Dawn Harrelson and husband Randy of Baxley, Kevin Whitley and wife Jessica of Tunnel Hill, Amy Hutto and husband Dewayne, Jason Rewis and Reanna Rewis all of Alma, three great-grandchildren, Dawson and Taylor Harrelson of Baxley, Jess Annika Rewis of Alma. Also many nieces and nephews survived.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9 at 2 p.m. at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Lowell Lee, Rev. Donnie Tuten and Rev. Troy Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Elizabeth Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Lee s Chapel Baptist Church Tuesday evening between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m.


Active pallbearers will be; Edwin Boatright, Bruce Boatright, Ronnie Turner, Albert Spell, James S. Lee and Tony Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be; Eddie Jones and family, Alvin and Mary Francis Meeks, James (Jabber) and Rhonda Lee, Jerry and Loann Sweat, Kristy Johnson, Edgar and Laverne Dyal, Jeff and Debbie Lee, Lamar's Pharmacy Employee's, Paul, Kay, Andy, Brandon and Myra Harrelson, Dr. Carter and Staff, Members of Mt. Pleasant Church, Nolie Griffin, Larry and Charlene Boatright, Lauren Medders, Home Health Care, Shirley Morgan and Tony and Rhonda Lee.
