TWO PIONEERS DIE
Death List Includes Wm. Houser

William Houser, mention of whose illness has been made, died at his home just across the Wells County line, east of the city, on the Union Township Road, Sunday evening at about six. Mr. Houser had been in failing health some months, and in the last three months had been in a serious condition.
Mr. Houser was eighty years old, last June, and had lived on the farm where he died ever since 1858. He was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, and there grew to manhood and was married. When he came to Indiana, this part of the state was in woods and his log cabin and clearing was one of the few places of shelter for travelers in that early day. His wife, faithful to the last, attended the sufferer till death came to relieve his suffering.
He was the father of seven children, all of whom live to mourn his loss. They are Joseph, of this city, Reuben of Michigan City, George of Warsaw, Mrs. Elizabeth Anson, of Warsaw, David of Union Township, Mrs. E. Penrod of 35 Salamonie Avenue and Mrs. Ella Sparks, who lives at the home place in Wells County.
For many years Mr. Houser had been a member of the Zion Evangelical Church in Wells County, and was always considered as one of the pillars of the congregation. Some of his best efforts were devoted to the cause of this church.
The funeral was held this afternoon at one and the remains will be interred at Zanesville.
