"Mary Elizabeth Pattisson, daughter of Hugh and Eliza Atkinson, was born at Melbourne, N. J., May 20, 1851, and died at the home of her daughter at Scranton, Iowa, January 14, 1941, at the age of 89 years, seven months and 24 days.


At the age of six years, she came with her parents to Missouri and settled in Nodaway county. On December 26, 1867, she was married to Cyrus Jasper Pattisson. They lived in Nodaway county until 1870, when they moved to Andrew county, south of Bolckow. Here they lived on the same farm until the death of her husband on October 31, 1915. Since then she had lived with her children. To this union seven children were born, five preceding her in death.


Surviving are one son, Ed Pattisson of Bolckow; a daughter, Mrs. Charles W. Hauenstein of Scranton, Iowa; one sister, Lettie Ann Perrine of Philipburg, Kas., who is 87 years old; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.


She was a member of the Methodist church for many years. Her favorite pastime of later years was to read the Bible.


The funeral service was held Thursday at the Terhune Mortuary in charge of Rev. Martin H. Keast, pastor of the Savannah Methodist Church. Interment was at the Lower Neely Grove cemetery, two miles north of Rosendale." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), January 24, 1941
