Dovie was the daughter of Balis/Bailes Patterson & Elizabeth Voyles. She first married John Brockman on Apr. 19, 1903 in Union County, Ga.

CHILDREN: Mary E., John Dallas, Willie Iowa, and Ruby Elizabeth Brockman.

Dovie and John divorced and she married second husband, James Arch "Archie" Culberson around 1913.

CHILDREN: James Park, Pauline, and Irene Culberson.

On Mar. 21, 1921, Dovie married a third time to Wade Jacob Pickelsimer in Polk County, Tenn.

CHILDREN: Thelma, Lloyd, Hoyt F. and Eula Mae Pickelsimer.

Wade died in 1945 and is buried at Liberty Cemetery in Cherokee County, NC. Dovie died on Aug. 1, 1975, at 87 years of age. She is buried beside Wade.
