Mrs. Martina Allen Clark of Evans, Georgia, passed away on May 11, 2006 at her residence. She was the wife of the late John Gordon Clark, Jr., who passed away in 1997. She was the daughter of the late Hazel Strickland and the late J. Elvin Sleister and the late William Henry Allen. She was born in Augusta, Georgia and lived her entire life in Augusta and Evans. Martina was known for many years as 'The Tupperware Lady', as she was one of the first dealers in Georgia. Later, she with her husband, owned the Tupperware franchise for a large portion of Georgia. She retired after 10 years, with many accolades and awards. In 1975, she came out of retirement to open, with her daughters, Martina's Flowers and Gifts. She was an astute businesswoman and worked tirelessly, with her children, to build Martina's into one of the largest florists in the Southeast. She retired again in 1992 and spent the rest of her years serving others. She was very active in the ministries of her church, West Acres Baptist, and for a number of years cooked meals for the L.O.T.S. Ministry in Augusta. She was a remarkable Southern lady, who loved her Lord, her family and her church and served them faithfully her entire life. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah C. Partridge (John), of Evans, Cynthia C. Britt (James) of Birmingham, AL; one son, John Allen Clark (Sandy), of Evans; six grandchildren, Heather Partridge Johnson (Travis), Adrienne Partridge Colvin (Clay), Michele Britt Lovett (Jimmy), Alison Britt Lovett (Timmy), Collin Britt and Christa Lee Clark; six great-grandchildren, Haley Johnson, Payton Johnson, Ridge Johnson, Ansley Colvin, Abby Colvin and Jackson Britt Lovett; two sisters, Madeline Allen Newton (Rev. Willis) of Oceanside, Ca., and Marlene Sleister Karr (David), Augusta. The Celebration of her life will be held Tuesday May 16, 2006 at 4 p.m. at West Acres Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be John Clark, Richard Dent, Bobby Kerr, Keith Nelms, Tommy Perdue, George Sleister, Johnny Williams, and Henry Wilson. Honorary escort will be the employees of Martina's Flowers and Gifts. Platt's Funeral Home.
