Felix was the fourth of Marshal and Permelia Comstock's seven children. He was named for his father's brother Felix. His death certificate is the only document I have ever seen that gives his year of birth as 1868 - all others give it as 1869, which is consistent with my personal knowledge of him. The family moved to Wise County, Texas in about 1874, and Felix lived the rest of his life in that state.

In his early years Felix worked at several things, including being a "drummer", or traveling salesman, for a publishing house that specialized in printing Bibles. Eventually he settled down to farming with his younger brother Charles, in Archer County, Texas, just southwest of Wichita Falls. Felix never married and has left no direct descendants: he was survived by two brothers and a sister, and more than a few nieces and nephews as well as cousins.
