Illustrated History of Wyoming County: Col Broughton was born in Canton, Conn. He wed Sally Blakely settling in Gainesville in a log home fathering seven daughters. His daughter, Sophrina, was the head of "Clare Place" in Warsaw, a boarding and day school for young ladies.
