Velma never married. She was another of Lewis Washington and Ella Byrd Tisdale's daughters. She took care of her mother until Ella passed; she then moved to Fayetteville and worked for many years at the Fayetteville City Hospital as a cook. She was a member of Pentecostal Temple Church, a wondreful christian and a dear friend.
