Mrs. Martha Liggett Luce died at her home one mile east of Douglass on April 23rd at 1:30 a.m. She had been sick for about five months and two weeks. Before her death she was stricken with paralysis. Mrs. Luce was born at Hebron, Indiana, January 3, 1863, at the time of her death being 58 years, 3 months and twenty days old. She was married to Frank Luther Luce, December 24, 1875, and to this union seventeen children were born. She is survived by her husband and eight children, two grant-children and other relatives. The children were with her at the time of her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church, and was a faithful, true and devoted mother. She leaves many friends and distant relatives to weep for her.
