Sarah Sallie Goosey was born July 9th, 1883, the daughter of John S. Hamilton and Martha Isaacs Hamilton. On August 1st, 1901, she became the young bride of Clayborn Reynolds. Sadly, Clayborn died of pneumonia a few years later in 1908 leaving Sarah with three young daughters, Verlie Reynolds (Venable), Mallie Reynolds (Evans), and Nettie Reynolds (Howell). On the 29th of June, 1913, Sarah Sallie married Joseph Goosey and from that union was born four children, William Goosey, Martha Goosey (Hamlyn), Fannie Goosey (Pond) and Wilson Goosey. In 1942 she again, became a widow. Years later she was married for the third time to Clay Evans. No children were born of this marriage and eventually, Sarah Sallie separated from Clay going to live with her daughter Martha, first in Miami, Florida and then to Lexington, Kentucky where she remained with Martha and her family until her death in December of 1961. She was laid to rest next to her second husband, Joseph Goosey, in Brandenburg Cemetery in Crestmont, Kentucky.

Beattyville, Dec. 19 - Mrs. Sallie Evans, 78, wife of Clay Evans, McKee, died at 3:50 a.m. today at a Lexington rest home after a long illness. A native of Lee County, she was a member of the Christian Church.

Other survivors are two sons, William and Wilson Goosey, Hamilton, Ohio; five daughters, Mrs. Verlie Venable, Booneville; Miss Mallie Evans, Goshen, Ohio; Mrs. Nettie Howell, Hamilton; Mrs. Martha Hamlyn, Lexington and Mrs. Fannie Pond, Hamilton; three brothers, Robert Hamilton, Arvel; Matt Hamilton, Irvine and Ed Hamilton, Delvinta; a sister, Mrs. Kate Lynch, Beattyville, 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Newman Funeral Home by the Rev. George Fox. Burial will be in the Brandenburg Cemetery at Crestmont. The body is at the funeral home where friends may call after noon Wednesday.
