Died at the residence of her father in this County, 1 Oct. 1873 Mrs. Emily M. Buzzard in her 22nd year. She was the wife of Rufus Buzzard and daughter of Holloway and Elizabeth Clegg. There was never a stronger or more beautiful illustration of religion than exhibited in the death of this young lady. Some hours before death she inquired of her faithful physician if she was not dying? He asked if it would frighten her if it were so. She readily answered no! That she had always looked upon death as a time of sorrow and dread, it was instead a time of rejoicing and happiness. She then requested that her family be called in, and conversed with them individually - father, mother, sisters and brothers. She expressed to her husband her appreciation of his devotion and kindness to her. And that all should meet her in heaven.

The same paper carried the sad news of the passing on 28 Sept. of Abna H., infant son and only child of Rufus and Emily M. Buzzard, age 13 days.

Note: Although her marker has the "Buzard" spelling of her name, it is actually spelled "Buzhardt".
