Obituary from Post Register (Idaho Falls, ID) - 7 March 1994:
REXBURG - Alan Sterling Bossard, 54, of Rexburg, Ricks College broadcasting instructor and debate coach, and sound technician at the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium, died March 6, 1994, at Madison Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
He was born May 22, 1939, at Salt Lake City, to Sterling Reynold and Laura Duke Bossard. He graduated from Richfield, Utah, High School, and from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
On June 29, 1962, he married Elizabeth Ann Oldroyd in the Manti, Utah, LDS Temple. The family moved to Rexburg in 1964, where he was employed by Ricks College as a broad-casting instructor. His latest project was developing the new radio station KWBH-FM for the college. He was the sound engineer for the Ricks College Drama Department and had also been the sound technician at the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium for many years. He served as Ricks College debate coach for 25 years and had been the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award. He was also an airplane pilot and flight instructor.
An active member of the LDS Church, he was serving as ward clerk in the bishopric at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife of Rexburg; children, Mrs. Doug (Stephanie) Bradshaw of Rexburg, Mrs. Breck (Wendy) Rushton of Riverton, Utah, Douglas Todd Bossard of Pocatello, Mrs. Russell (Angela) Rydalch of Salt Lake City, and Melissa Bossard of Rexburg; his father and stepmother, Sterling R. and Virginia Bossard of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Jan Zufelt of Bountiful, Utah, and Karen Andrews of Bellflower, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Rexburg LDS Stake Center, 1545 W. 1000 South, with Bishop Reed Thurman of the Rexburg 19th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Sutton Cemetery in Archer.
