He moved to Sebec, Maine, in 1806, and began to preach there with success. Jointly with Rev. Mr. Sealels and Rev. Mr. Libby organized a church there. Baptized many hundreds in the region where now are the towns of Atkinson, Charlestown, Garland, Corinth, Dexter, Exeter, Bradford, Dover, Foxcroft, Sebec, Brownsville, Milo, Medford and other places and gathered them into the Sebec Quarter Meeting.
He was ordained in 1808 in New Hampshire, and
he moved to Maxfield, ME, 1815, and Howland, ME, 1818. Organized a church there. Afterward, organized churches at Passadumkeng, ME, another at Lincoln, and Lowell, ME.
In 1840 he moved to Janesville, Wisconsin, being the second Free Will Baptist minister in WI, after Rev. Mr. Cheney, together, organized the First QM in Wisconsin. He organized Prairie du Sac church in 1841. He assisted in organizing the Honey Creek Q.M. and was also in the Yearly Meeting. He did good service as a pioneer preacher on the prairies of Wisconsin and northern Illinois. He labored many years and died in his 86th year, preaching till within four weeks of his death, Dec. 5, 1869.
He married Elizabeth Harvey, 29 Sept. 1805 in New Hampshire, [sister to Rev. Nathaniel Harvey]. Jesse/Elizabeth had seven children.
