James Edward Cahill, 85, director and vice chairman of People's Bank and a political leader, died Wednesday, February 11, at his home after a long illness He was a member of Senatobia First United Methodist Church. Burial in Bethesda Cemetery.

He was a charter member of the Senatobia Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a former Tate County state legislator, Senatobia alderman, soil conservation member and director of the Delta Council. He was also an oil jobber.

Mr. Cahill graduated from Mississippi State University.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Lee Cahill; a daughter, Ms. Eleanor Cahill of Jackson, TN; a son, James E. Cahill Jr. of Senatobia; a stepson, Joe B. Lee III of Grenada; a sister, Mrs. J.D. Wooten of Memphis, two grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
