Billie was 5' 5" tall with dark brown hair and sad dark eyes that were so dark brown they looked black when she was angry or upset.

Carrie used to talk about the pony she had as a child. She and her father would ride together in the Indian Nation. They used to stop and talk to an old Indian her father called chief. He had a grandson about her age; in jest her father made a pact that the two children should marry when they grew up. When she was about 16 the boy followed her everywhere she went for a while.

In 1919 Carrie moved with her mother to Stage Canyon, Colorado for a short time. Her mother, Mary Bryan Sillix, homesteaded a farm there. Her father stayed in Perkins, Oklahoma during this time. The homestead was later abandoned and they returned to Perkins.

Billie's husband once said of her, more in admiration than criticism, "Her mother spoiled her. She could have anything she wanted." I am so glad as she had such a difficult life as an adult.

Billie enjoyed photography. In the 1940's/1950's she had a cheap box camera and using the most basic equipment (she did not have an enlarger) she would turn the tiny bathroom into a dark room. She took excellent pictures that are the only record of the family through the toughest of those hard years of raising her family by herself.

Occupations:
1930 - 1947 House Wife, but worked as needed (in agricultural based jobs) to help support the family.

1947-1950's she worked on a lettuce "hump" trimming lettuce, and other produce based jobs, Salinas, California and some winters in the Imperial Valley.

Abt 1954 she worked in a fish cannery packing sardines on "Cannery Row", Monterey, California.

Abt 1958 she was a laundry worker at the Fort Ord Army Base, Fort Ord, California, but had to quit after a few months because of her heart.

While working at these very physical jobs and raising her children she attended Hartnell JC studying accounting.

In the 1960's Billie worked as a bookkeeper for Pemberton Packing Company and Pemberton Produce.
