Mrs. Martha Carstensen Ballantyne, widow of Thomas H. Ballantyne, former city marshal and deputy sheriff, died Sunday morning at her home, 750 Twenty-seventh street. Mrs. Ballantyne was ill only three days with pneumonia. She was born here on October 1, 1865, the daughter of Peter C. and Karen Peterson Carstensen, pioneers, and had lived here all her life. She was a member of the L.D.S. church, and was an ardent worker in its activities. Her husband died in May, 1923. Surviving are the following children: Thomas Ballantyne, Dr. LeRoy Ballantyne, Mrs. James Scowcroft, Juanita B. Ballantyne of Ogden, and Varsell Ballantyne of Twin Falls, Idaho. Nine grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters are living: Joseph and Charles Carstensen of Ogden. Alma Carstensen of Los Angeles and Mrs. Frank Peery of Ogden.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock in the Fifth ward chapel with Bishop William H. Petty presiding. The body may be viewed at the home on Tuesday afternoon and also on Wednesday until the time of services. Interment will be made in the City cemetery under the direction of Lindquists
