Gertrude Irene Houk, aged 74, of 400 West Pittsburg road, West Pittsburg, died at her residence at 11 a.m., Sunday after an illness of one year.
She was born in Clarion County, March 13, 1882, daughter of the late James and Polly Shoup Shirey. Mrs. Houk came to Ellwood City several years ago from Clarion County and has resided here since.
She is survived by her husband, George W. Houk; and a brother, John Shirey of Toledo, Ohio.
The family will receive friends at the Patton Memorial Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Patton Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd E. Brown, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock cemetery.
