OBITUARY
"Clara Estelle Bowens Asher, 89, of Beverly, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2009 at her home. She was born in Bell County on January 20, 1920 a daughter of the late Henry and Della Widener Bowens. She had been a homemaker and was a member of the Red Bird Senior Citizens, Red Bird Mission and she enjoyed sewing and quilting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Ray Asher; daughters, Margaret Lawson, Willa Mae Ulbrick and Gwen Smith; children that she raised, Orville Asher and James Asher; son-in-law, Robert Lawson; granddaughter, Amanda; sisters, Nola, Dorothy and Irene.
Survivors include her children, Winston Asher of Beverly, Edgar D. (Lucy) Asher of Payne, OH, Ralph Asher of Beverly and Vivian Joyce Johns of Beverly; sons-in-law, Lothar Ulbrick and Leon Smith; nineteen grandchildren, Doug, Shelly, Russell, Clinton, Eddie, Joan, Greg, Dennis, Tim, Margaret, Shawn, John, Angie, Joyce, Missy, Cory, Mike and Lisa, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; child that she raised, Steve Asher, sister, Martha Bell Rhodes and brother, Lowell Cupp and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Teddy Collett and Rev. Scott Woodworth. Burial will be in the Little Creek Cemetery at Beverly with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Red Bird Senior Citizens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 Pm Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville."
