Mrs. Rosie Akins Bird Stone, age 69, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, about noon in the Bulloch County Hospital after a short illness. She was a life-long resident of Bulloch County.

She is survived by 5 daughters, Mrs. Fonnie Knight of Stilson, Mrs. Oberita Ray of Statesboro, Mrs. Donnease Sapp of Statesboro, Mrs. Ruth Pierce of Savannah, and Mrs. Marie Mayfield of Bogalusa, La.; three sons, Charlie and Horace Bird, both of Statesboro and Thomas Ben Bird of Savannah; 25 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Remus Rushing of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three brothers, J. Ewell Akins of Tampa, Fla., Erastus Akins of Lake City, Fla., and Hoyt Akins of Savannah, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock from the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. F. J. Jordan officiating, assisted by Rev. Harrison Olliff. Burial was in the Church Cemetery, Grandsons served as pallbearers. The body will remain in the chapel of Barnes Funeral Home until the funeral Hour.
