CHARLES CRIST DIES AT PINE BUSH HOME
Was Long a Leader in Crawford Civic Affairs

Pine Bush - Charles Crist, a leader in Town of Crawford civic and political affairs and a life resident of the township, died early today at his home on Railroad avenue here. Mr. Crist, who was sixty-nine, was a retired farmer.

He had served as a member of the town board for twenty-four years and as town welfare officer for nineteen years. A prominent and active worker in Republican party affairs, he had been a Republican committeeman for several years.

Mr. Crist was an active member in the Dairymen's League, serving as a director, and had also been one of the pioneers in its organization here and in northern New York State. He was an original member of the Pine Bush Hook and Ladder Company and still remained an active member and a fire commissioner at the time of his death. He was also a director of the New Prospect Cemetery Association.

The civic leader was a member of the Pine Bush Methodist Church, the Wallkill Masonic Lodge, the Pine Bush Grange, Iroquois Hunting and Fishing Club, and the Hiawatha Ladge, Knights of Pythias.

Mr. Crist was born in the Town of Crawford April twelfth, 1879, and was married to the former Elizabeth Henry on November twenty-eight, 1901. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Arthur DeWitt of Plattsburg; five sons, George W. of Wallkill, John A., Charles R., and Harry of Pine Bush, and Harold Enos of Scotia; a brother, William E., of Goshen; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. R. T. Edwards of Newburgh will conduct funeral services at two p.m. Friday in the Scott Funeral Home here. Burial will be in the family plot in New Prospect Cemetery.
