Nancy Frances Spurgeon, of Belle, died suddenly in St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City last Saturday, January 20, at the age of 70 years. Interment, Tuesday, in the High Gate Cemetery.
Frances Spurgeon, nee Branson, was born October 23, 1880, in Osage County. Her mother died when she was two weeks old and she was taken into the home of her aunt and uncle, the late Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Cox of Cooper Hill, where she grew to womanhood. On October 30, 1898, she was united in marriage to W. J. Spurgeon, and to this union seven children were born, the eldest dying in infancy. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Pearl Davis; Mrs. Opal Sceivers; Mrs. Anna Branson; Mrs. Marie Skaggs; Frank Spurgeon and Chester Spurgeon. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Spurgeon united with the Baptist Church when a young girl and at the time of her death, was a member of the Belle Baptist Church.
