Mr. Tom Harris Anderson, age 83, of 731 Jordan Mill Road in Sandersville died Sunday, June 11, in Memorial Hospital of Washington County following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 13 at 3 p.m. at Sisters Baptist Church. Burial was in the Brownwood Cemetery. The Rev. William E. Brown and J. Emory Lindsey officiated. Pallbearers were members of the Sandersville Fire Department.
Mr. Anderson was a native of Wilkinson County, the son of the late William Anderson and the late Lula Mercer Anderson. He was the retired Street superintendent for the City of Sandersville and was a volunteer fireman for the City of Sandersville for many years. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Sisters Baptist Church and a member of the Woodmen of the World Camp #207.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie K. Anderson of Sandersville; two sons, Harris Quillan Anderson of Marietta, and Thomas Gary Anderson of Sandersville; two sisters, Myrtle Fulford of Wrightsville, and Louis Garner of Harrison; two brothers, Cecil Anderson of Vidalia and Levi Anderson of Wrightsville; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that donations be made to the Sandersville Volunteer Fire Department Equipment Fund.
