Jewel Delores Carden Womack
Jewel Delores Carden Womack, 77, of Lynchburg, went home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008.
Born on May 21, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Luther Itealy Carden and Alva Wooten Carden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Newton Womack Sr.; two sons, Frank N. Womack Jr. and Robert Ray Galloway; a grandson, Christopher Bass; four sisters, Lillian Tweedy, Juanita Dowdy, Margaret Cyrus and Edna Burnett; and two brothers, Luther I. Carden Jr. and William Grant Carden.
She is survived by a loving and devoted son, Alan D. Womack Sr. and his special friend, Sharon Bryant, of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Alan Dean Womack Jr., Robert Q. Galloway and Michael Bass; two great-grandchildren, Katlyn B. Galloway and Chelsea N. Galloway; two sisters, Beatrice Torr and Doris Witt; and a host of nieces and nephews. Jewel also loved like family Greta Bryant Williams of Lynchburg and her children, Carson Williams, Hunter Williams, Caden DeJarnette, and Jamerson and Charity Bryant of Virginia Beach and their daughter, Alexis Bryant.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at The Church of the Covenant, with the Rev. David Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family expresses their deep gratitude for the loving care provided by the professional and compassionate staff of Oakwood Manor and Bedford Memorial Hospital.
