Isaac G. "Ike" Garner, aged 74 and of Ranger, died March 11, 1930, of heart trouble. Mr. Garner was a Methodist and well known and respected in this region. Mr. Garner was born March 18, 1855, in South Carolina, to the late Thomas Jefferson Garner and Elizabeth Lucinda (Page) Garner, who came to Arkansas many years ago.

Mr. Garner was survived by his widow, Mrs. Florence (Hames) Garner; daughters: Mrs. Winnie (Garner) Peterson of Bristow, OK and Mrs. Ethel (Garner) Dickson of Fort Smith; two grandchildren; Miles Meadows and Morice Meadows (who he had been raising as his own); brothers: Tom Garner of Ardmore, OK and Will Garner of OK; and a sister: Mrs. Kate Moore of Neely. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Estella Bernice Garner.

The Reverend G. W. Denton was called to preach Mr. Garner's funeral service and interment followed, on Mar 12, 1930, in the Lower Spring Creek Cemetery of Corinth, Arkansas.

Census records indicate the family was in Bullock Creek, York, SC in 1870 and then in Spring Creek, Yell, AR in 1880. So, the "years ago" in Ike's obituary means the family was in Arkansas, had a home, and jobs, when the census taker came by on "the 19th day of June, 1880" and Isaac was listed as still "at School.
