She was born November 3,1917, in Harrisburg the daughter of the late Frederick and Pearl Bartley.
Nora moved to Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School and married the late Clarence Powers. She later married the late Kletus Arndt and moved to a farm in Mechanicsburg and later to a farm in Dillsburg. Nora retired from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Agriculture in 1980. She enjoyed playing the piano and crocheting. Nora loved to cook, bake, and make photo albums for her family. Nora was a member of the Harmony Bethel Church of God, Dillsburg and the Franklintown Fire Co. and the Dillsburg Ambulance. She was a loving mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald W. Powers and his wife Delores of Mechanicsburg, James E. Arndt and his wife Marlene of Ft. Scott, KS, and William C. Arndt and his wife Bonnie of Dillsburg; one daughter, Betty M. Fishel of Gardners; and one sister, Ruth Messina of North Carolina. She also is survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Nora was also preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Weaver and one grandson, Rodney Fishel.
Services will be held Monday, November 8, 2010, at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg with Pastors Terry L. Dougherty and Reuben L. Derstine officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville. Viewings will be held Sunday from 6-8 pm and on Monday from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
