Mrs. A. C. Brassfield, Daughter of Traer Pioneers, Dies at Alden
Mrs. Mary Ann Brassfield, widow of A. C. Brassfield, former local resident, and a grandmother of Mrs. Albert Bradley, of Traer, died Monday at her home at Alden, Iowa, following a Jong illness. The funeral was held Wednesday at Alden and the body was brought here for burial in Buckingham cemetery beside her husband.
The decedent was about 74 years old and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Estle, early settlers of Traer community. She was married here December 27, 1882, to Aaron Charles Brassfield, and the couple farmed in Crystal township for several years. They also farmed near Beaman about ten years, then moved to Hardin county. For the last few years before Mr. Brassfield’s death on April 8, 1929, following a long illness of cancer, the couple farmed in Franklin county near Alden. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. James Yohn, now living at Alden but formerly of Traer. Seven grandchildren including Mrs. Bradley survive. Wayne Yohm employed by Riley Kepler northwest of town is a grandson.
