The daughter of John Alfred Key and Winifred Simpkins. Married Dr. William Pennall of Wilmington, North Carolina. [From Key and Allied Families by Julian C. Lane; Genealogical Publishing Co., 2009; pgs. 144-145.]

Age 64 years of age. Caroline was enumerated as a widow living in Minden, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana (before Webster Parish was carved from Claiborne and Bossier Parishes) with the following children:

John W. Pennall - attorney, became Mayor of Shreveport for 1859-1860. Died in Vicksburg in1863 while in Capt. Tucker's Company of the CSA.

Eliza Winifred Pennall Kilpatrick

Augustus Caroline Pennall - died from yellow fever in the 1873 outbreak.

Edward H. Pennall - Became deputy clerk of Caddo Parish during the beginning of the Civil War; killed in Chancellorsville while serving in the CSA.

Lavinia Pennall McClelland Perry-married John Norwood McClelland and George Perry.

Robert R. Pennall - shot dead in the streets of Shreveport in 1868.
