A funeral for Guy D. Jones of Mountain Home will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church in Mountain Home with the Rev. Russell Moore officiating. Mr. Jones died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at Hospice House. He was 78.
Mr. Jones was born Aug. 15, 1927, at West Virginia to Rex and Unetta Springer Jones. He married Lorene "Lori" Holland on Dec. 21, 1949, in Newport, R.I. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of 23 years, where he earned the rank of Master Chief. He was a Korean and Vietnam War veteran. He later was administrative assistant for the county judge of Baxter County for 18 years.
Mr. Jones lived in Mountain Home since 1940, moving from West Virginia. He was a member of Mountain Home VFW Post 3246.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; sons Ronald Jones of Memphis, Tenn., and Richard Jones of Mountain Home; daughters Guyla (Gary) Mayo of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Cindy (John) Lantier of Redlands, Calif.; three grandchildren; brother Hobert Jones of Gassville; and sisters Rosa Lee Fitzugh of Geneva, Okla., and Doretta Smith of Mountain Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Evelyn.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Baxter County Funeral Home and Cremation Society. Burial will be at Douglass Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Jones, Bobby Jones, Guy Mayo, Alex Mayo, Guyla Mayo and Cindy Lantier. Honorary pallbearers are Anita Caraway, Ed Gilbert, Roger Whisenant, John Lantier and Gary Mayo. Memorials may be made to the Ozark Community Home.
Arrangements are by Baxter County Funeral Home and Cremation Society.
