Blacksburg - Mary "Sis" Hutcheson Burke died Friday, November 8, 1991, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a valiant fight against cancer.

She was the wife James F. Burke, and the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas B. and Rosilie Stockard Hutcheson. A native of Blacksburg, she was born February 1, 1919, in Christiansburg, Va.

She attended Hollins College and was a lifelong member of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church.

She was married to the late Capt. George D. Warriner, who was killed in action in World War II.

She is survived by her daughters, Molly Warriner Dodson and Nancy Burke (Strawn) of Blacksburg; and Elizabeth Burke Daley of Richmond, Va. She is also survived by sisters, Rose Osterbind of Gainsville, Fla.; and Anne Graves of Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; and a sister-in-law Frances Hutcheson Russell of Blacksburg. She is survived by granddaughters Kimberly and Melissa Dodson of Blacksburg.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Hoy-McCoy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. The family extents special appreciation to the staff of the Cancer Center of the S.W. and Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and especially to Dr. Stephen Kennedy, Dr. Jesse Davidson and nurse Peggy Cook in the Rehab Hospital.
