Louise Ivey Avedisian, 91, of Newberry, widow of Harry Avedisian, died Thursday, November 17, 2016, at her residence.

Born on August 19, 1925, in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of Marvin Joseph and Mary Wheeler Ivey. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newberry where she had been active in the WMU and taught Sunday School. Mrs. Avedisian had also been active with the Reedy River Baptist Association WMU. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and had been a volunteer with the Newberry County Council on Aging and was a volunteer emeritus at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by a son, Gregg (Karen) Avedisain of Lexington; daughters, Kathy Collins of Cayce, Claire (Wayne) Easley of South Congaree and Mary Martha (Ted) Reed of Durham, NC; sister-in-law, Anne Minasian of NY; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 20, 2016, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Albert Allen. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 1:00- 2:00 pm. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 1020 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Angel Care of Newberry and Amedysis Hospice for their loving care and to all of her devoted caregivers: Vernonica Singleton, La Tonya Plummer, Mildred Crump, Patricia Lindsay, Marcia Lindsay, Tiauni Lindler, Renea Bailey, Frances Suber.
