John Thomas Copper was the son of Cyrus Copper and Drusilla Shearlock. He was married to Matilda G Webber. John T. Copper had been married prior to a woman name Alverda E. Stapleford. John Thomas Copper's children with Matilda Webber were Henry T , Mary E, Samuel Leroy, John Sherlock, and Lloyd Cyrus Copper. John Thomas Copper's obituary from the Baltimore Sun dated 11 Jun 1924 reads:

Copper - on June 8, 1924, John T., beloved husband of Matilda Copper.
Funeral from his late home, 626 East Forth avenue, on Wednesday at 2 P.M. Internment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
