Pioneer Citizen of Emanuel County Passed Away

Swainsboro, Ga., Sept 13 - Mr. John Sconyers, another of Emanuel County's pioneer citizens, has passed away. He died yesterday morning and his remains will be interred this afternoon in the old churchyard at Canoochee.
Mr. Sconyers was born in this county on Christmas day 1825, since which time he has been a resident of the county. He married Miss Society Kemp, a daughter of old Uncle John Kemp. She died many years ago. They were both staunch members of the Primitive Baptist Church. They had three children all of whom are living in this county, Mr. Jehu Sconyers, Mr. John A. Sconyers, and Mrs. Addison Coleman.
