Funeral services for John C. Boyd, age 71, was held at the Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Funeral Home Thursday at 2:00 with the Rev. James T. Hooten officiating.

Mr. Boyd died Monday in Detroit, MI, following an extended illness. He was a native of Putnam County, TN, son of the late Thomas J. and Melissa Jared Boyd.

He had been residing in Michigan for the past 25 years.
Survivors include his widow Mrs. Mary Shanks Boyd; 1 daughter, Mrs. Gordon McDonald, Detroit; 2 sons, Gilbert Boyd, Warren, MI, John C. Jr., Jr., Roseville, MI; 1 brother, Willie Boyd, Baxter; 2 sisters, Mrs. Betty Robinson, Baxter, and Mrs. Mary Baird, Old Hickory; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Burial will be in Crest Lawn Cemetery.
