Benjamin was the 10th of 12th children born to Capt. Joshua and Betsy Sweetland Lamb. He was born in Lincolnville.
On Nov. 10, 1839, at Searsmont, Benjamin married 17 year old Mary Jane Donnell. They lived in Searsmont and had four of their seven children. In the late 1840's or very early 1850's, Benjamin was appointed as a Lime Inspector by the City of Rockland. He and Mary Jane, along with their four children (approx. ages 10, 8, 7 and 4) moved to Rockland. Their home was moved from Searsmont by ox-team. In August of 1851 Benjamin and Mary Jane's fifth child (my great grandfather), Adelbert Lamb was born in Rockland. Subsequent to the move to Rockland, two additional children were born.

Amanda E. Lamb, born 8 Sept 1842 in Searsmont, Maine. On 14 Apr 1865 she married Henry Clay Day in Rockland. Amanda died 4 May 1875 in Rockland at the age of 33.
Andrew D. Lamb, born 26 Nov 1843 in Searsmont, Maine. On 18 Nov 1865 he married Margaret Thomas. Andrew died 16 Mar 1926 in Rockland, Maine.
George E. Lamb, born 6 June 1846 in Searsmont, Maine. On 24 Feb 1865 in Rockland, Maine, George married Aldanah A. Arnold. Aldanah died 13 Sept 1885 in Rockland, Maine at the age of 38. George subsequently remarried, on 27 July 1886 in Rockland, Lizzie Ulmer. George died 28 Dec 1902 in Rockland, Maine.
Adelbert E. Lamb was born 21 Aug 1851 in Rockland, Maine. On 5 Oct 1872, in Rockland, he married Mary Ann Simmons of Warren. Mary Ann was born in Warren on 22 Jan 1848 and died in Rockland, Maine on 7 May 1912. Adelbert died in Rockland, Maine on 16 May 1916.
Flora E. Lamb was born 4 June 1855 in Rockland, Maine. On 12 May 1877 she married Fred A. Marr in Rockland, Maine. We have no indication what happened with that marriage, but Flora married Samuel C. Roundy in Massachusetts in 1888. Flora died 6 Sept 1906 in Lynn, Massachusetts.
Alice M. Lamb was born 7 June 1863 in Rockland, Maine. On 7 Sept 1882 Alice married, in Rockland, William Yeaton. They subsequently moved to Lynn, Massachusetts where Alice died on 25 Mar 1914.
