Augusta, GA - Entered into rest Monday, November 1, 2010, Dr. Roy C. DeLamotte, 92, husband of the late Araminta Harper DeLamotte.

Born in LeCompte, LA, Dr. DeLamotte resided in Augusta for 50 years. He was professor of world religion at Paine College, Methodist minister and author of numerous scholarly articles, several plays and two novels published by Doubleday (under the penname Gregory Wilson). Dr. and Mrs. DeLamotte were leading advocates for racial harmony and justice in the South. He held a PhD in world religion from Yale University, a BD from Emory University, and a BA from Millsaps College.

Family members include daughter the late Eugenia Caroline DeLamotte (Gardner), PhD; daughter Rebecca DeLamotte and husband Peter H. Bloom of Somerville, MA; grandsons Paul Gardner and Mark Gardner; step grandson Benjamin Bloom; sister the late Heloise Powell; nieces Carol Barthelemy and Olivia Kane; and son-in-law Carl Gardner, PhD.
