Was Sick Seven Years, Was a Car Repairman and Lived in Garrett Since 1904.


An illness of seven years was ended Tuesday morning at 2:10 o'clock with the death of William G. Kennedy, a Spanish-American war veteran, at his home at 307 South Cowen street.

Mr. .Kennedy was in his forty-seventh year, having been born January 1, 1875, in Noble county. He was a resident of Garrett for the last seventeen years and was employed as a car repairman until ill health interfered.

Mr. Kennedy and Nona Smith Metzler were married in 1907.

Surviving besides the widow are two children Carl, aged ten, and Jane, six; four brothers. J. J. Kennedy, of Chicago. Patrick, of Lima, O., Charles, of Pratt, Kan., and John, of Garrett; and three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Smith, of Chicago, Mrs. Ella Madden, of Churubusco, and Mrs. John Byer, of Elwood, Ind. Mr. Kennedy's parents, both dead, were William and Ellen Kennedy. His mother died last September 8.

Mr. Kennedy served in the United States army during the Spanish-American war and saw service in Cuba.

He was a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans, of SS. Peter and Paul's church, of the Knights of Columbus, and of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Funeral services will be held at the church Friday morning at 9 o'clock, Father King officiating. Interment in Calvary.
